What do you enjoy more, giving or receiving?
Winter is in the air and the holidays are fast approaching. Shoppers are scurrying to malls, kids are making their gift wish lists, and many are planning holiday parties and festivities… These are common holiday occurrences in America, but have you ever stopped to wonder what the holidays might look like in other countries? What might other children be wishing for on their Christmas lists?
In rural Haiti, many men, women, and children are in need of help. It’s a country that has been held back, both by natural disasters, as well as by a lack of economic sustainability. It’s a country that has been held back by lack of education and leadership. Two-thirds of Haiti’s population lives in rural areas, yet the majority of universities are located elsewhere, primarily near Port au Prince. As a result, higher education hasn’t typically been an option for most rural Haitians—until now.
The University of Fondwa is changing the odds.
With the help of generous and kind donations from Americans just like you, uFondwa is changing the way that rural Haitians live, survive, and thrive by educating and mentoring students in Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine, and Business Management. uFondwa is providing rural Haitians with the tools, knowledge, and real-world experience they need to be able to support the growth of their communities.
“To have a job in Haiti, you have to create your own. So uFondwa focuses its curriculum on agronomy, veterinary medicine and business management with Institutes planned in Education, Allied Health and Education.”
~Myron F. Steves, Jr., President, uFondwa, USA, Inc.
Education makes a difference.
Are you appreciative and grateful for everything that you have? In Haiti, the majority of rural Haitians have no access to education at all and that means there are no opportunities for growth. Only 1% of university-aged men and women are enrolled in higher education institutions. uFondwa’s mission is to change that. With higher education, the University of Fondwa is committed to building Haiti’s economic, intellectual, and environmental wealth, creating communities that support themselves and thrive in the years to come. You can be a part of that progress.
The holidays are a great time to donate.
The winter holiday season has a way of reminding us what matters most, and there’s a movement among Americans to give back and make a difference in the world. Did you know that in 2016, Americans gave $389.05 billion dollars to charitable causes? That’s a 4.2% increase from the year before. Giving the gift of education doesn’t have to be difficult.
This holiday season, make a donation to the University of Fondwa. You can do so in your own name, on behalf of a family member, or on behalf of your company or clients.
Think beyond presents and parties and give the gift of education to the people of Haiti. Donate now. We thank you for your generosity and hope you have the happiest of holidays!
