The University of Fondwa has reopened for the new academic year! It is with great joy that I write to share with you the news of the University of Fondwa’s January reopening for the new academic year – and to share some photos too! As you may know, schools in Haiti have been closed due to the ongoing political and humanitarian crisis, with many schools not even being able to complete the previous academic year.
Fortunately, due to the university’s location far from the violence and insecurity, and the dedication of our professors and students, we were not only able to finish the previous academic year in August 2022, but have also been blessed to bring our students and professors back this year to continue our mission. In January, we held our big kickoff meeting between professors and students. The students were very excited and thankful to get back – even amid concerns among many students about how they will pay tuition in these challenging economic times in Haiti. The university will continue to work with students to ensure that no one is forced to drop out because they are unable to pay tuition right now due to the ongoing crisis.
I hope you find joy in this news and these photos. Your solidarity and your generosity mean so much to the students, faculty, and staff – especially at this fraught moment in Haiti.
On behalf of the entire University of Fondwa family, thank you for your encouragement and your support for the next generation of Haiti’s leaders.
Without you, the University of Fondwa and our three schools of study -- Business Management, Agronomy, and Veterinary Medicine (Haiti’s only VM School!) -- would not be making the progress we are making. Thank you again for your solidarity, your generosity, your care, your concern, and your prayers for the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Fondwa.
