uFondwa USA launches Scholarship Fund

The University of Fondwa, USA (uFondwa USA) has announced the creation of a new scholarship fund to support students aspiring to study at the University of Fondwa (UNIF) in Haiti. This initiative is a response to the growing student body at UNIF, which is a testament to the university's rising academic reputation and the appeal of its rural location that offers both a safe environment and hands-on learning opportunities.

UNIF offers a comprehensive five-year program with majors in Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine, and Business Management. These programs are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the sustainable development of their communities. The new scholarship fund will grant $3,000 annually to each student, covering the full tuition cost of $15,000 for the five-year program. Donors have the option to distribute their contributions monthly, amounting to $250 per month, ensuring that students can focus on their studies without the burden of tuition fees. Give now​​​

The mission of UNIF is to cultivate a new generation of citizen leaders dedicated to the sustainable and integrated development of their country, especially in rural areas. uFondwa USA supports UNIF financially, firmly believing that education is a cornerstone of sustainable development. 

With a vision for the future, uFondwa USA aims to facilitate 200 scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year, ensuring that no qualified student is hindered by financial constraints. This ambitious goal will be supported by a unique "pay it forward" model, where graduates will contribute 10% of their earnings once their businesses are successful or they are gainfully employed. 

Additionally, a portion of the scholarship fund will be deposited in a money market account to accrue interest, further supporting future scholarships and ensuring the sustainability of the program.

uFondwa USA invites individuals, corporations, and philanthropic organizations to join this transformative initiative. 

uFondwa USA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the University of Fondwa. By providing scholarships, technical assistance, and other resources, uFondwa USA aims to equip the youth of Haiti to become leaders and change-makers in their communities. 

The University of Fondwa (UNIF) in Haiti is a pioneering institution established in 2004 by the Fondwa Farmer’s Association. It focuses on delivering high-quality education in Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine, and Business Management. Located in a rural setting, UNIF provides a unique blend of academic rigor and practical experience, preparing students to contribute effectively to their communities and the nation at large.

Slanta Nicolas, a current student of Agronomy, shared, "What makes the University of Fondwa special for me with regards to what I study is that we have everything right here. We learn theory in the classroom and go directly outside to practice." Roselet Latouche, a current student of Veterinary Medicine at UNIF, added, "Every trained professional is one less person who will join a gang."

This new scholarship fund represents a significant step towards ensuring that the youth of Haiti have access to quality education and the opportunity to become leaders in their communities.
